Itinerary

South Island NZ + Fiji

Embracing a strong organic and seasonal approach, we prioritise taste over standardisation, contrasting with supermarket produce. This ensures our vegetables boast complex and bold flavours to elevate the Ahi dining experience.

Day 1

Mt Cook Fly/Heli Hike/Fly, Queenstown

A light aircraft climbs out of Queenstown along the spine of the Southern Alps, Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea on one side, Lake Pukaki and the Tasman Glacier on the other, before landing at Mt Cook Village. From there, a helicopter drops you onto a remote section of the glacier, where a guide cuts steps into the ice using techniques handed down from New Zealand’s early mountaineers. The flight home takes a different route, over the tussock of the Lindis Pass.

Day 2

Half day fly fishing, Te Anau

A jet boat runs up the Waiau River for a morning of fly fishing, mixing walk-and-wade sections with casting from the boat. Minimum four hours on the water, with morning or afternoon tea included.

Day 2

Te Anau Glowworm Caves

A scenic cruise crosses Lake Te Anau to caves that are, geologically, barely twelve thousand years old, still being carved by the river running through them. A guide leads the way through limestone passages and past an underground waterfall, before a small boat carries you into a silent grotto lit by hundreds of glowworms found nowhere else in the world.

Day 3

Milford Sound coach, cruise and walk

Mt Sunday stood in for Edoras, capital of Rohan; the set, which took nine months to build, was fully removed after filming, but the isolated hill and braided river valley around it look exactly as dramatic as they do on screen. A return walk of around 4km, roughly 90 minutes, reaches the summit.

Day 5

Tokoriki Island, Fiji

Tokoriki sits in the Mamanuca Islands, reached by boat from Nadi, with the resort’s non-motorised activities, paddleboarding, sailing, snorkelling, kayaking, included as standard. Beyond the basics, options run to village visits, sunset cruises and a castaway tour of Monuriki, the island used to film Cast Away.

Day 8

Champagne Island beach picnic

A fifteen-minute boat ride to Monu Island, just offshore, sets up four hours alone on a stretch of sand, snorkelling the fringing reef and lunching on a picnic with a bottle of Champagne.
